Del Toro Insurance 25th Anniversary

Del Toro is a family business and that has defined much of the path it has traveled to this day. The main reason for starting out in this industry has been to contribute to a community that needs us and with which we feel an eternal commitment. Growth would not have been possible without the support and permanent exchange with our community whom we have tried to serve with immense respect.
On the other hand, we have tried to provide a service that is also deeply rooted in family values because we consider that targeting the well-being of families in a society that is transforming day by day is essential. We have simply delivered transparency, honesty, trust and loyalty, which I believe have really been the key to being able to treasure the preference of our clients over the years.
Time really passes very quickly. We began our journey in a small office located in the west of the county. Today we are a solid company with a commercial presence throughout the state of Florida and an increasingly large group of franchisees who have opted to be part of the Del Toro family, making our business model their own. To our pride, the vast majority have been families that have turned to entrepreneurship and that, today, replicate those values of transparency, honesty, trust and loyalty to their clients.

RV Safety and Insurance: How to Keep Your Mobile Home Safe and Secure

Mar 30, 2023

Many Floridians LOVE their RV’s as they give unparalleled freedom and adventure. We all find an RV that can be enjoyed over the weekend or for a long cross-country trip. Still, owning a home on wheels has additional responsibilities, such as preserving and assuring your vehicle’s safety and security, which is why understanding how to keep both your vehicle and you safe is important.

Whether you live in your RV full-time or simply take it out for the occasional road trip, this comprehensive article will provide important information and suggestions you will need in order to be financially protected in the event of an accident.

RV Protection

Your RV is not only a vehicle but also a home away from home, so it is no surprise that you want to ensure it is always safe. To keep your RV in top condition and protect it from damage, there are several steps you can take to ensure it stays safe and secure. These steps include:

  • Regular maintenance
  • Updating security measures
  • Adding an emergency kit
  • Getting an insurance policy

The Importance of Regular Maintenance

Frequent maintenance is critical to maintaining your RV in excellent working order and ensuring that it is safe for a long road trip (or even a short one). Here are a few things to bear in mind when performing maintenance on your mobile home:

  • Examine Tires: Before each journey, inspect the tires on your RV. Examine the tires for wear and tear signs, and ensure the tire pressure is set to the manufacturer’s recommended level.
  • Inspect the Batteries: If RV batteries are not properly maintained, they can quickly lose their charge.
  • Assess Seals and Seams: Inspect the seals and seams of your RV for cracks or damage. If you find any problems, have them fixed soon once to avoid leakage.

Why You Should Add Security Measures

Since an RV is a valued asset, it is also regrettably a target for thieves, so implementing quality security devices and measures is crucial to protecting your vehicle. So, how can you ensure that your RV or mobile home is safe when you’re on the road or even while it’s not being used?

  • Install an Alarm System: An alarm system may be an effective theft deterrent. Install an alarm system that covers all entrance points and is configured to notify you if someone is trying to break in.
  • Utilize Wheel and Hitch Locks: Locks can help keep burglars out of your RV. Install a wheel lock to keep the wheels from rotating and a hitch lock to keep someone from picking it up and driving away with your RV.
  • Park in a Safe Place: Choose a safe and secure spot to park your RV. Consider hiring a storage facility with video cameras and security guards if you want to store your belongings in well-lit locations with a lot of foot activity.

What Should Be in Your Emergency Kit

Even with the best planning, crises may occur so, it is wise to pack an emergency kit that comprises the following items to be prepared for any situation:

  • First Aid Kit: A well-stocked first aid bag may help you manage minor injuries and avoid more serious complications.
  • Fire Extinguisher: A fire extinguisher is an important safety equipment that may assist you in extinguishing minor flames before they become a larger problem.
  • Emergency Supplies: Bring emergency supplies such as flashlights, extra batteries, blankets, and nonperishable food in case you become stuck without electricity or food.

The Importance of RV Insurance in Florida

Accidents may happen no matter how diligently you secure your RV. That is why it is critical to have adequate insurance coverage to safeguard your investment and loved ones in the event of an unforeseen disaster.

Insurance gives financial security and peace of mind in the event of an unforeseen occurrence and is also crucial for RV owners since there is a risk of damage, theft, or accidents. Without insurance, the owner would be responsible for any repairs, replacements, or liability claims, which may be costly and financially disastrous.

The scope and cost of insurance policies vary. However, they often cover a wide range of risks, including damage to the RV, theft, vandalism, liability claims, and more. With that said, owners with enough insurance coverage may travel with peace of mind, knowing they are covered in the case of an unanticipated occurrence.

Overall, having RV insurance is not only a wise financial decision but is also required by law in most states and many campsites where you may wish to park for the night. This comes as no surprise as insurance is known to dramatically assists RV owners in mitigating risks and protecting their investment by acting as a safety net in the event of unforeseen disasters.

Learning Statistics

Let’s take a look at the statistics behind RV accidents to portray better why RV insurance in Florida is so important. In 2019, 62,075 accidents involving recreational vehicles (RVs) in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). There were 17,527 injuries and 435 fatalities as a result of these accidents. Among these accidents, Class A motorhomes were involved in the majority of RV incidents (44%), followed by travel trailers (26%) and then Class C motorhomes (16%).

Although every situation differs, RV accidents are often caused by driver mistakes, vehicle equipment failure, and environmental variables such as weather and road conditions. This means that many of these incidents could have been avoided with the proper upkeep and prep of the RV involved in the accident. While RV accidents are relatively infrequent compared to other types of traffic accidents, they can have serious repercussions owing to the size and weight of these vehicles.

Factors that Play into Insurance Costs

A variety of things might influence the cost of your RV insurance. Among the most important aspects to examine are the RV’s age and condition. Because newer RVs often have a greater replacement value, they are more expensive to insure than older versions.

The driver’s driving record and age also affect RV insurance premiums. For example, drivers with a history of accidents or traffic offenses may have greater rates than those without. Furthermore, younger drivers may face higher charges because of their lack of driving expertise.

Some essential aspects to consider are the RV’s location and planned purpose. Insurance costs vary depending on where you live and how you use your RV. For example, if you reside in an area where theft is prevalent, your premiums may be higher. Similarly, if you use your RV for commercial reasons, your insurance premiums may be greater than if you exclusively use it for personal trips.

How to Find the Right RV Insurance Policy

Selecting the appropriate RV insurance coverage can be difficult, but there are a few crucial points to consider to help you make an educated selection. look for insurance companies that specialize in RV insurance. You may get suggestions from other RVers or do your research online to identify reputable services.

In addition, you need to investigate the policies offered by several different insurance providers and their rates. Try to get the insurance that will give you the protection you need at a price that is affordable to you. Consider important aspects like personal injury protection, collision coverage, comprehensive coverage, and liability coverage. Keep in mind that the insurance policy that costs the least may not always be the greatest option for you because it may not provide the coverage that you need.

Other coverage options offered by insurance carriers, like roadside assistance or vacation liability coverage, are also worth considering. These extra coverages might provide you with peace of mind and safeguard you in the event of an emergency.
